NEWS! Crooked Tongue will show in the Plaza Classic Film Festival on Saturday, Aug. 13 at 7:30 pm in the Philanthropy Theater. Tickets $4 from the festival office.

T wo years in the making, Crooked Tongue is the story of a young adult Hispanic with a speech impediment. It is a journey of personal discovery and redemption. We see how his stuttering disability affects all phases of his life; we experience his frustration, his struggle, his anger, and his fear. We mourn his losses and at the same time we celebrate his meager victories, but we know somehow he will overcome. Our main character, Beto, is a junior college baseball player who is in danger of losing everything because of his explosive anger response to his own stuttering and others reaction to it.

Beto meets some unusual characters along the way in his search for a cure. There is Lou, the forty-something college counselor whose main interest is drinking and womanizing. There is Marina, his girlfriend who tires of talking for him. There is the Shaman, who although initially is something of a con artist, begins to believe in the spirits. In a twist, Beto finds solace on top of a mountain.
